Grid Tied Inverters

Grid Tied PV System

Grid Tied systems are meant for one purpose only, to off set or zero out your utility bill. I am not a big fan of Grid-tied systems for one reason, I could not think of anything worst than having $20,000 of solar panels on your roof that can NOT be used if the power goes out. It does not make sense to me.

A Grid-tied system consists on solar panels, mounting; inverter and utility grid interconnect equipment.  This type of system has NO batteries; if the power goes out in your area you have NO power also.  A Grid –Tied inverter is designed to shut off if the utility power goes down. This is to save the lives of utility workers.
